SessionSorted is a desktop app. Your sessions, transcripts, projects, briefs and reviews stay on your computer. This page lists everything that ever leaves it.

What the app sends

Update checks

Once a day, and when you click "Check for updates", the app asks our server whether a newer version exists. That request carries your operating system, CPU architecture, the version you are running, whether you are on the free plan, the trial or Pro, the language the app is shown in and your system's language — nothing else. For each day we keep one entry per installation — its version, plan, languages and country (looked up from the request) — under an anonymous code that changes every day, so we know which versions are in use and where people use the app. We do not store your IP address.

Model prices

Once a day the app downloads the current list of model prices from our server, so Insights can estimate what your token usage would cost — including for models released after your version of the app. The request carries nothing about you or your machine, and we don't record it.

Feedback

Only when you send it. The message you type, the email you optionally add, any screenshots you attach, and — if you leave the box ticked — a diagnostics report. You can read the report in full before sending; it contains the app version, your OS and CPU, your shell, which agents are installed and their CLI versions, how many sessions are indexed, and the app's own settings. It never contains project paths, file names or anything from a session.

Screenshots are only ever ones you add yourself — pasted, dropped or picked; the app never captures its own window. They are stored in private storage that only we can open, through links that expire after ten minutes.

Trial

On first start, the app asks our server when its 14-day Pro trial ends, sending only a device identifier: a one-way hash of an ID your operating system assigns to the computer. We keep that hash and the date we first saw it, so the trial can't be restarted by reinstalling. It is hashed differently from the identifier a Pro licence uses, so it can't be linked to a licence, and it isn't linked to update checks.

Pro licence

Only if you activate a Pro licence. The app sends the licence key, your computer’s name as set in your system settings, your operating system, and a device identifier. The identifier is a one-way hash of an ID your operating system assigns to the computer; the ID itself never leaves it. We keep these so the licence works on up to three computers and so you can see and remove them. About once a month the app checks the licence with our server so a renewal, refund or removed computer takes effect.

Purchases

Payment is handled by Polar (polar.sh), the merchant of record, under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address, your billing country, what you bought, the amount and the order number — never your card details.

Downloads

When you download the app from this site we record the download: which platform, the country the request came from, the language your browser prefers, and the website that linked you here, if any. We do not store your IP address.

Windows requests and release notifications

Only when you click “Request Windows support”, we record a request using a random code generated in your browser. The code is saved in this site’s local storage so the same browser can recognise its request on later visits; our server keeps a one-way hash of it, not your IP address or browser fingerprint. The code is only used for this request, not to track page visits. Clearing browser storage or using another browser can result in another request.

If you separately choose “Email me”, we also store your email address, the page language and the registration date for one email if we release a Windows version. There is no release date yet. This does not sign you up for product news or marketing. You can cancel from the browser where you registered, through the cancellation link included with a future notification, or by emailing us. Cancellation deletes your email registration and its link to the request; the request remains in the demand count. We do not send a registration email.

What the app reads

The session stores that Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Copilot, OpenCode, Pi and Hermes keep in your home directory. The app reads them to build its list, to count tokens for Insights, and to write briefs and reviews; it never modifies them. Its own data lives in ~/.sessionsorted and can be deleted at any time.

What the app never does

Who is responsible

MasterAI Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 16107537), 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom, is the controller of the data described here.

Where it is stored

Feedback, trials, licences, orders, download records, update-check records, Windows requests and notification registrations are stored on our server in Los Angeles, California, in the United States. Screenshots attached to feedback, and backups of the server’s database, are stored in Cloudflare R2 in the United States. Requests to this site and to our server pass through Cloudflare’s network. These providers process the data only on our behalf. Where data leaves the UK, it is protected by safeguards the UK recognises, such as the International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

How long we keep it

Why we may use it

Update checks and download counts rely on our legitimate interest in shipping updates and knowing which versions, plans and languages are in use, and where. Feedback is processed because you chose to send it, so we can read it and reply. Windows requests are recorded when you choose to submit them to help us assess demand; notification emails are only registered with your separate opt-in, which you can withdraw at any time. Trial records rely on our legitimate interest in offering one trial per computer. Licence and purchase data are processed to provide what you bought.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete any feedback or notification registration you sent, or object to how we use it — email us from the address you used, or tell us roughly when you sent it. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.

Children

SessionSorted is a developer tool and is not meant for children under 16.

Changes

If we change what the app sends or how we use it, we will update this page and mention it in the release notes.
